To make a long story short, i found a lump in my armpit. As you might guess, i was a little concerned about it. Recently, it grew up to be a larger lump, and i made the decision to get my ass to the doc. I shouldn't have waited that long, but being a guy, i am dumb. Well yesterday, it starts getting even bigger and then starts to feel raw. By last night, it was rather painful, and when i woke up prematurely this morning, early, it was screaming at me. It felt like i don't know what on the inside, while the outside felt like a 3rd degree burn. It was horrible. I couldn't sleep, and couldn't find a position that suited me, cause they all hurt. So i got up, got showered, all pathetically, with limited motion in my left arm, and went to the doctor.
He tells me it is an abscessed sweat gland. Now this is a much better prognosis than my paranoid brain was coming up with, but none the less, it was an option i had considered. Sorta. So where do we go from here, doc? He explains in detail, that this really tender, really raw, really really sensitive pain machine, has to be popped open and drained. Without any anesthesia!!! The idea of sticking a needle in there to drain it was a horrible idea, but it was worse than that. He opened a 3mm hole in it. That is just under 1/4 of an inch. It was just about the worse pain I have ever dealt with. If it were my calf, or my forearm, it prolly wouldn't have been so bad, but right up in my armpit. After he popped it, and was sopping up the nastiness from within, he stood up to get a cold compress. Apparently, my face turned white(er), and i almost passed out.
Anyway. After the pain meds kicked in, about an hour later, i was much better. Came home and slept the day away. What a fucked up day.
